(you can download all of these programs directly from the bottom of this
page. i've also linked to their homepages where possible.)
you may find these interesting or useful, but could probably live
without them.
- avantgo
- a client for avantgo's web
delivery service. it grabs the most recent copies of pages you
select so you can read them offline at your leisure.
- fuellog
- an app for tracking your gasoline purchases and computing the
miles per gallon you're getting out of your car.
(note: development of fuellog ended, so someone has created pfuel to replace it.)
- ksdatebook
- my visor came with datebook+, a light version of datebk3
handspring licensed from pimlico software. it spoiled me, and i
wasn't as happy with the default palmos calendar application which
came with my clié. i wasn't dissatisfied enough to pay
pimlico $25, though.
ksdatebook is a little rough around the edges, but it works and is
free. the features i like best are the week and month views with
appointment text and the ability to categorize items. this latter
has finally let me put my "wake" appointment in a "hidden"
category so i can use my clié as an alarm clock without
having my calendar cluttered.
- kstodo
- this is a slightly-more-featureful todo application from the
author of ksdatebook. it doesn't do anything that makes me want
to use it, but you may like it.
- launcher iii
- a tab-based app launcher.
- list
- a database app.
- pocket chess
- a nice little chess game.
- noah
- a dictionary.
- plan-my-day
- plan-my-day lets you specify how long each of your tasks will
take and calculates how long it will take to do them all. you
can reorder them to figure out how best to use the available time.
you can mark how much of each item is done in increments of 10%,
and can specify the relative or absolute buffer time between each.
plan-my-day can import tasks from your calendar and todo list.
this is an interesting idea, but is still a bit hard to work with
and rather buggy (i've found it can mark items done on my todo
list when i didn't ask it to). it's still under development, so
instead of including a file for it here, i'll link to its page on freshmeat.
- tipsy
- a tool that helps calculate tips for meals, especially useful
for figuring out what everyone in a group owes (though i tend to
just use the calculator, truth be told).
- working hours
- this is a great little idea. it keeps a database of places you
frequent and lets you enter what hours they're open each day of
the week. it's handy for making sure you don't go to the
store/library/post office and find them closed.
- whatzup
- a list of appointments and todo list items due in a
user-configurable time frame.
