my hotel room at the westford regency, westford massachusetts.

this is where i stayed when i went up to boston for the va linux/andover merger celebration & meeting. we went out for a cruise & dinner the first night, which was all kinds of good, then had two days of meetings about stuff i'll be able to talk about later. ;)

i'm not much on photos, and didn't take any except these of the room in the second hotel we stayed at, just to show you the insanity that goes on. i guess its necessary; there are people in the company who expect this kind of extravagance and there are issues of corporate image involved in self-assuredly throwing money around. but all i need is motel 6. a bed, a shower, a phone line. they always put us up in places like this. this was $140/night. the hotel we stayed at the first night was right on the boston harbor and easily must have been over $200/night.

madness. further madness because they had the meeting at the hotel. the andover offices were 5 minutes away and sitting on beau coup bandwidth, but we had to use the phone lines in the conference room instead. robin and i could never get connected to the local numbers of our isps, and made multi-hour phone calls to our dialup numbers in baltimore. i don't want to imagine what it must have cost. i wish they'd just put us in the $40/night red roof inn, and let us go to the office for meetings and pocket the extra $300 not spent on hotels. oh, well.
