this parking lot, which connects to the next street up and appears to
serve the whole 500 complex. there are at least 3 houses in the group
-- 500 (on the left here), 500e (to the left of where i was standing),
and 500-1/2 (behind me and to my left). i didn't check the house on
the right here, but it may be part of it as well. they all seem to be
owned by someone with an artistic bent. that's a sculpture at the
other end of the lot, and there was another like it leaning against
the back of 500e, which appears to be a workshop.
